    Description

Important Mint State 1807 Quarter Eagle

1807 $2 1/2 MS 62 NGC. Due to its status as the most readily obtainable Capped Bust Right quarter eagle, the 1807 is a favorite issue among advanced type collectors. Numismatic researchers have estimated that only 160-175 examples of the issue survive in all grades. Needless to say, the majority of these coins grade either XF or AU. While the typical Mint State 1807 quarter eagle displays numerous adjustment marks and/or poor peripheral detail, the present piece shows neither of these detractions. Well centered, both sides have above average detail and flashy, yellow-gold surfaces. A few wispy contact marks preclude a higher grade, but we stress that none of these features are individually distracting. This is an attractive coin for the grade that should elicit strong bids. Population: 14 in 62, only 1 finer (9/99). (NGC ID# BFVY, PCGS# 7656)

    Weight: 4.37 grams

    Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
