Moderately Worn (VF20) 1807 Two-and-a-Half

1807 $2 1/2 VF20 PCGS. The final-year 1807 is the most readily obtainable Quarter Eagle of the Capped Bust Right type. This is still a rare date, however, since most of the 6,812 pieces produced succumbed to the mass meltings of the pre-1834 period. The present example would fit nicely into a circulated type set. The surfaces are green-gold in color with tinges of orange iridescence in the more protected areas. The peripheral striking definition is expectantly soft for the type, the central features are free of adjustment marks with even wear. Lightly abraded with a few small indentations in the right obverse field.
