Description
Choice Mint State 63 1825
1825 MS 63 PCGS. Slightly prooflike as are all from this limited issue. The delicate fields show a few minor contact marks, but these are the rule on early gold coinage. Collected for well over a century, early Capped Bust quarter eagles have never been available in any quantity. Few were originally struck, most were melted or lost, and today collectors have scant choices when trying to locate a desirable specimen. In point of fact, PCGS has only graded a single coin Mint State 63, this coin, and one coin a grade higher (4/97).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25FG, PCGS# 7664, GSID# 8221)
Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
Weight: 4.37 grams
AGW: 0.1288oz
