Elusive Borderline Uncirculated 1825 Quarter Eagle

1825 $2 1/2 AU 55 Lightly Cleaned. The 1825 just eclipses the 1824/1 as the most available Capped Head Left quarter eagle. There are, however, no more than 90 to 100 pieces extant from the tiny original mintage of 4,434 pieces. The fields of this flashy Borderline Uncirculated example are bright and semi-prooflike, with subtle reddish accents over the sharply detailed green-gold surfaces. Light scuffiness in the most exposed areas of the fields is accompanied by wispy hairlines, but the fragility of the reflective fields almost excuses this trivial distraction.
