    Description

    Noteworthy 1830 Quarter Eagle MS61

1830 $2 1/2 MS61 PCGS. Breen-6133, Type of Bass-3027, R.4. As with all dates in the reduced size Capped Head Left series, only a single die pairing was used to strike the 1830 quarter eagle. Here the dies can be identified by a repunched I in AMERICA combined with a final star distant from the border. This desirable Mint State representative, while a trifle scuffy in the fields, exhibits a generally strong strike and flashy semi-reflective luster. A solitary hairline scratch can be detected on the obverse from Liberty's lower curls to star 2. Noteworthy quality for this seldom-offered early type. Population: 5 in 61, 28 finer (11/06).(Registry values: P4) (NGC ID# BFW8, PCGS# 7670)
