Near-Mint 1832 Quarter Eagle1832 $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Even though graded the same, this piece is less abraded and has better overall color and surfaces than the Byron Reed coin. The 1832 has an original mintage of only 4,400 pieces, most of which were melted shortly after manufacture, leaving a scant 100 or so examples in all grades today. This piece is just outside the Condition Census for the date. The bright orange-gold surfaces show a noticeable presence of mint luster around the peripheries, and the devices are sharply defined throughout with no distracting abrasions on either side.
