Description

1832 Quarter Eagle, MS62 CAC
BD-1, Attractive Coloration

1832 $2 1/2 BD-1, R.4, MS62 PCGS. CAC. Garrett provenance, as stated on the holder. Bass-Dannreuther Die State a/c. The 1832 Capped Head quarter eagle had a relatively low mintage of 4,400 coins using just one die marriage. The obverse portrait had a minor master die and hub modification in 1832 by Chief Engraver William Kneass, giving the head slightly increased relief with a more pronounced jaw line and a higher rounded cheek.

This example has deep honey-gold color, with rich olive shades towards the peripheries, giving exceptionally attractive eye appeal. Just a few small marks on the obverse, visible with a loupe, with none of them distracting. The strike is sharp, with all design elements being well formed. Overall, an excellent specimen of the 1832 quarter eagle, very rare in Mint State, with a well deserved CAC endorsement.
From The Early Aurum Collection.
