    Description

    Seldom-Seen 1832 Quarter Eagle
    MS62, BD-1, Mellow Golden-Orange Color

1832 $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS. CAC. BD-1, R.4. As was the case with so many of the early Mint quarter eagles, only a single die pair was required to strike the 1832 issue, to the extent of a meager 4,400 pieces, and only a single die state is known, with the reverse die a carryover from the previous two years' issues. This piece is heavily patinated on each side, more reddish on the obverse, while the reverse shows a greenish hue. The surfaces are sharply defined throughout, but a couple of small, parallel scratches appear by star 12, along with a couple of dark spots of verdigris on the reverse. The color is a beautiful, mellow golden-orange. Seldom seen at this Mint State level, the 1832 quarter eagle is even scarcer in higher grades. Population: 5 in 62, 1 finer (10/12).(Registry values: P5) (NGC ID# BFWB, PCGS# 7672)

    Weight: 4.37 grams

    Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
