Description

1796 B-1 Quarter, VG Details
Rare Early Silver Type Coin

1796 25C B-1, R.4 -- Damage -- PCGS Genuine. VG Details. The 1796 quarter is among the rarest silver types, trailing only the 1796-1797 half dollar. It is the first quarter dollar date struck by the U.S. Mint, and it is also a single-year type. Two die marriages are known, and B-1 is rarer than its B-2 alternative. This stone-gray representative has fully readable legends, although portions of STATES are faint. Myriad tiny marks account for the PCGS designation, with the majority distributed across the portrait. Among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins.
