Description
1796 B-1 Draped Bust Quarter, Fair 2
Much-Desired, One-Year Type
1796 25C B-1, R.4, Fair 2 NGC. Just 6,146 quarters were
struck in 1796, and today examples in any grade are the subject of
avid collector demand. If there is such a thing as a "problem-free"
Fair 2 coin, this smoothly worn example is it. The rims have become
one with the stars and legends, yet the date remains nearly
entirely visible and the outline of the central devices are
ghostlike but identifiable. Iridescent rainbow tones drape both
sides of this still-attractive, timeworn specimen. Amazingly, NGC
and PCGS combined have certified more than two dozen coins in this
grade.Ex: Houston Money Show (Heritage, 12/2015), lot 3127.
