Description

    First-Year 1796 Quarter Rarity in Problem-Free Fine 15

1796 25C Fine 15 NGC. B-2, R.3. Browning-2 is the more frequently encountered die marriage of the 1796 Quarter, and it is readily identifiable by a high 6 in the date. It is always the sign of an important sale when we can offer a problem-free representative of this low mintage (6,146 pieces), one-year type. Moderate to heavy wear is evenly distributed over both sides with all major design elements at least outlined. The obverse rim is sharp, as is that on the reverse in all but one or two areas. The number of light to moderate abrasions is consistent with an early Quarter that saw this extensive wear, and, with rich charcoal-gray toning that lightens over the raised features, neither side reveals any singularly mentionable blemishes. Worthy of a strong bid. (NGC ID# 23RA, PCGS# 5310)
