1796 25C --Tooled, Improperly Cleaned--NCS. VF Details. B-2, R.3. There are only two varieties known and B-2 is identified by the high 6 in the date. Only 6,146 quarters were struck in 1796, the first year of the denomination. Deep gray patina surrounds the brighter centers. The fields show a number of light scratches, but there are no individually bothersome marks.
