Description

1805 B-4 Quarter, MS63
The Pittman Specimen

1805 25C MS63 PCGS. B-4, R.3. Deep sea-green and plum colors frame lighter golden centers. Luster shimmers when the piece is exposed to light and rotation. A couple of minor obverse marks are not worthy of singular mention. Like most 1805 Quarters, the present piece has areas of striking weakness, on Liberty's shoulder and upper hair, on the shield, and on the fourth reverse star. In terms of technical quality, however, this important example ranks among the finest members of its Browning variety.
