Description

1806 B-3 Quarter, AU55
Eye-Appealing Charcoal-Toned Coin

1806 25C B-3, R.1, AU55 NGC. Tompkins Die State 4/5, the elusive terminal die state with rim crumbling near obverse star 13. Charcoal borders frame untoned fields and devices. This partially lustrous Draped Bust quarter is abrasion-free aside from minor contact on the rim near the left wingtip. Portions of the devices lack a full strike, but there is no denying the appeal of this type coin. The available B-3 exhibits a defective I and T punch in LIBERTY.
Ex: Long Beach / Summer FUN Signature (Heritage, 7/2023), lot 3506.
