Description

1806 B-8 Quarter, Fine 12
Extremely Rare Cud on an R.6 Variety

1806 25C B-8, R.6, Fine 12 NGC. Steel-gray surfaces predominate, with a slight deepening around the peripheral devices. A thin scratch stretching from Star 13 to the bottom of the throat is the only abrasion of note on what is otherwise a very mark-free specimen. The B-8 is the rarest die marriage of the Draped Bust quarter series, and the only R.6 variety. The reason for its rarity is evident on the reverse - a massive cud around 25 and UN. This takes it to a whole new level of rarity, with only a handful of specimens known.
