Bold Overdate, Guide Book Variety

1806/5 25C B-1, R.2, AU58 PCGS. CAC. The boldly showing overdate and the defective T in LIBERTY diagnose this popular Guide Book variety. Lustrous surfaces are tan-gold and brownish-gray with some silvery recessed areas remaining. Light die clashing shows on each side.

Variety: B-1, R.2, the overdate obverse. On the reverse, the C in the denomination is embedded in the tail feathers. The reverse is clashed through OF and clashing shows beneath the bust on the obverse.

Population Data (9/15): For the 1806/5 overdate, PCGS reports seven in AU58 and 17 finer, the finest a sole MS66 piece shown on CoinFacts. NGC shows five in AU58 and 11 finer.

Heritage Commentary: For the 1806 date, the B-1 (1806/5 overdate), the B-2, B-3, and B-9 are the "go to" varieties to represent it, as all of the other six varieties are very scarce to very rare.
