Original Dusky Gray Toning
1806/5 25C B-1, R.2, XF45 PCGS. CAC. Tompkins Die State 2/3,
with clashed dies as usual. Dove-gray toning evenly embraces this
unmarked and attractive Choice XF quarter. The strike is above
average for B-1, though the star beneath cloud 5 is absent, as it
is opposite the high point of the bust tip. B-1 is the only
overdated 1806 quarter variety. It appears that little effort was
made to efface the underdigit, since its lower curve and ball are
