Description

Umberto I 5 Lire/Tallero 1891, D-27, KM4, 28.12g, MS64 NGC. The type, in addition to being denominated "TALLERO", is also denominated "L5" i.e. 5 Lire; however, the coin is not struck to the Latin Standard. After 1878, the only significant crown coinage struck by Italy were Talleros for their colony of Eritrea. Choice, original, lightly toned surfaces. A beautiful, fully struck specimen. Uncirculated business strikes are much rarer than proof specimens.
