Description
Rare Off-Center 1793 Wreath Cent
1793 1C Wreath Cent--Vine and Bars, Struck 5% Off-Center--VF20 PCGS. S-10. Errors on 1793 large cents--Chain, Wreath, or Liberty Cap--are very rare. The surfaces are very slightly granular, however, exhibit splendid dark brown fields and lighter tan devices. A small defect on the unstruck edge at 7 o'clock may or may not have been as made. A similar example was mentioned in the Breen Large Cent Encyclopedia from the Milton Cohen Collection. We do not have immediate access to that catalog to verify a pedigree, although we suspect this is the same coin.(#1347) (Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 223H, PCGS# 1347, GSID# 1220)
