Description
Rare Double Struck 1794 Large Cent
1794 Liberty Cap cent 1C --Double Struck, Second Strike 10% Off Center, Clipped Planchet--Head of 1794 VG8 PCGS. S-31. What else could have gone wrong when this coin was struck? Both dates are visible, one slightly left and above the other. The bottom part of the bust and pole are clearly doubled as well. Parts of the reverse are also visibly doubled. A small planchet clip is visible just shy of 6 o'clock. This clip is very minor, although enough to eliminate the edge lettering at this point. The surfaces are dark steel-brown with very minor blemishes, typical for the average quality example at this grade level.(#901374) (Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 223M, PCGS# 901374, GSID# 723)
