Double Struck, Ex: Ellsworth, Bolt

1810/09 1C Classic Head Large Cent, S-281, B-1, R.1 -- Double Struck -- VG8 PCGS. Ex: Hines-Bird-Ellsworth. The first strike for this cent was normal, but the cent did not fully eject. It was struck a second time, 70% off center toward 2 o'clock, at 7:30 relative to the first strike. The second strike is uniface, since a planchet was fed between the present coin and the reverse die. A microgranular medium brown cent with moderate pitting on the lower reverse. Pedigreed to Dr. Conway Bolt, owner of a renowned and extensive collection of early copper errors. Our EAC grade VG8.
