Description
Double Struck 1814 Classic Cent With Two Dates
1814 1C Crosslet 4 Cent--Double Struck, 2nd Strike 80% Off Center--Fine 12 PCGS. S-294, R.1. After having been struck once, this coin was not completely freed from the press. The second impression, which is off center 80 degrees at 11 o'clock, came down just before 9 o'clock on the first impression. The result is that there are two dates on the obverse, although the second is missing the first digit. The only area of mentionable unevenness of wear is seen on the reverse at the junction of the two strikes--an area that was raised due to the error. Richly toned in olive-charcoal shades with lighter chocolate-brown coloration over the devices.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 224Y, PCGS# 1573, GSID# 864)
Weight: 13.48 grams
Metal: Copper
