Description
1818 Large Cent with a Full Brockage Reverse
1818 1C Cent--Full Brockage Reverse--VG 10 PCGS. This error cent calls for some interesting speculation. Although well worn with weak areas in the design, the obverse was properly struck. The reverse, on the other hand, was impressed into the obverse of a previously struck 1818 cent, the full mirror image of which is readily evident. Either this coin was carried around as a pocket piece because of its curiosity, or it passed unnoticed in the avenues of commerce for several years. Deeply colored in brown shades and typically abraded for the grade. From the Dr. Jeff Hosford Collection.
