Full Brockage Reverse on an
AU 1852 Three Cent Silver
1852 3CS Three Cent Silver -- Full Brockage Reverse -- AU50
PCGS. This lightly circulated cream-gray mint error has a
normal obverse and a full brockage reverse. The reverse displays an
incused, reversed, and unexpanded image of the obverse, caused when
a previously struck coin clung to the reverse die. STATES and the
shield are unevenly impressed on the brockage side but the other
legends are clear.Ex: Mark Hayfield Collection of Mint Errors (Heritage, 11/2004), lot 10498, which realized $1,610.
