Full Brockage on a Near-Mint
1865 Three Cent Nickel
1865 3CN Three Cent Nickel -- Full Brockage Reverse -- AU58
PCGS. The obverse has a normal appearance (aside from a partial
wire rim) but the reverse is a reversed and incused image of the
obverse. The story of this coin began when a three cent nickel (not
the present piece) stuck to the reverse die following its strike.
The present piece was then struck between the obverse die and the
previously struck coin. The brockage side is lightly impressed but
the legends are readable and the type is evident. The obverse is
well struck. Unabraded and satiny with cream-gray toning.
