Description
1889 Liberty Nickel, MS63
Broadstruck
1889 5C Liberty Nickel -- Broadstruck -- MS63 NGC. Struck
without a collar die, the present nickel has the cursory appearance
of an off-center strike toward 5 o'clock, but the only design
elements absent are the obverse dentils near 5:30. The strike is
intricate on the major devices, even on the left ear of corn,
although the date and AMERICA exhibit distortion due to metal flow
toward the rim. The lustrous and unmarked surfaces are iridescently
toned cherry-red and olive-green.
