Description

Rotated Double Struck 1891 Cent Good 6

1891 1C Indian Cent--Double Struck Rotated in Collar--Good 6 NGC. After the initial normal strike, this cent remained in the collar instead of ejecting. No other planchet was fed in, but the cent rotated 90 degrees clockwise prior to the second strike. Despite its curious appearance, the cent apparently remained in circulation for some time. A lamination is noted above the N in ONE, and a thin mark is concealed on a lower headdress feather.
