Description

1895-S Morgan Dollar, MS62+
Reverse Planchet Lamination

1895-S $1 Morgan Dollar -- Laminated Planchet Reverse -- MS62+ PCGS. The reverse lamination is large in area but shallow, stretching from the eagle's breast to the left dentils above the NI in UNITED. The interior of the lamination shows all design elements struck, although they are fuzzy. The lamination likely existed prior to striking and was very thin. The coin displays brilliant interiors with hints of amber-russet around the borders and a splash of blue-green at the date. Some light abrasions on Liberty's cheek and in the adjacent obverse field determine the grade, while semiprooflike reflectivity likely contributes to the Plus designation.(Registry values: P8, N1793)
