Interesting Error Double Struck Indian Cent
1896 1C Error Indian Cent--Double Struck, 2nd Strike 70% Off Center--AU55 NGC. The first strike was normal, but the coin failed to eject from the die and was struck a second time at 11 o'clock relative to the initial blow from the dies. The second strike is widely off center toward 2 o'clock. A sharply struck and unabraded Indian cent with rich mahogany-brown color and only a whisper of verdigris.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 228R, PCGS# 2193, Greysheet# 1407)
