Description
1899 Nickel, AU58
Struck on a Cent Planchet
1899 5C Liberty Nickel -- Struck on a Cent Planchet -- AU58
PCGS. This almost perfectly centered error displays mottled
"autumn leaves" patina over each side. The strike details are
strong on each side with especially good definition on the left
(facing) ear of corn on the lower reverse. There are no mentionable
abrasions on either side, but a shallow, curved strike-through (a
piece of wire?) is located above CE in CENTS. A scarce error, this
would be a challenging set to assemble in this format. From The Mahal Collection, Part II.
