    Description

    1899-S Barber Half, MS62
    Partial Collar Strike

1899-S 50C Barber Half -- Partial Collar Strike -- MS62 PCGS. The collar die was only partly employed when the present Barber half was coined. On the reverse border, reeding is barely present near 9 o'clock, and is essentially complete near 2 o'clock. The obverse rim is much wider at 8 o'clock than at 2 o'clock. Lightly toned and satiny with unblemished surfaces. The fletchings and shield tips are well struck.
Ex: Summer FUN Signature (Heritage, 7/2015), lot 4166.
