Description

1901 1C Indian Cent--Flipover Double Struck--VG8 ANACS. A dramatic error despite its duration in circulation. The first strike was normal, the second strike is a flipover with close to 180 degree rotation. The date from the first strike is visible atop the shield, and Liberty's profile is obvious right of the denomination. On the obverse, the shield from the initial strike underlies the date, and traces of the wreath and ONE CENT are also present. The obverse has a trace of verdigris near 4:30, but a splendid mint error nonetheless.
