1904 Nickel on a Foreign Planchet MS64
1904 5C Liberty Nickel--Struck on a Foreign Planchet--MS64 NGC. 2.76 gm. The planchet appears to be copper-nickel. It is too heavy to be for a 1903 Costa Rica two centimos, and too light to be for a Philippines five centavos. Softly struck, as expected for an underweight planchet, and uncentered toward 9:30. Light chestnut and pearl-gray toning enriches the smooth and lustrous surfaces.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 277F, PCGS# 3865, Greysheet# 2969)
