Description

1913-S Indian Half Eagle With A Strike Through Error

1913-S $5 Half Eagle--Struck Thru--AU55 ANACS. The 1913-S (408,000 pieces produced) is a difficult issue to locate at any level of preservation. The rarity of gold errors only enhances the desirability of this reddish-gold example. The reverse impression is bold over all features save the mintmark (which is quite indistinct). The obverse displays a sizeable strike through that obscures the definition over the lower third of the coin. Although lightly worn, there are only a few small abrasions in the fields.
