Error 1921-S Lincoln Cent With Silver Scrap Struck Into the Reverse

1921-S 1C Cent--Reverse Struck in Silver Scrap--MS63 Brown NGC. An intriguing Mint error, an elliptical piece of silver scrap seems to have come between the planchet and the reverse die at the time of striking. This scrap is now embedded in the center of the reverse, and the relevant design elements are evident over it. The added metal has caused slight loss of detail around the reverse periphery, but the obverse is bold, if not sharp in all areas. Medium brown in color over all features save for those struck over the silver, which display a silver-gray sheen. There are some cracks and splits in the scrap metal.
