Description
Fabulous Double Mint Error 1922 No D Lincoln Cent, Strong Reverse
1922 No D 1C Strong Reverse Cent--10% Off Center--XF40 NGC. FS-013.2. Die Pair Two. One of the most significant Lincoln Cents in this sale, this coin is actually a double Mint error. The mintmark was removed by overzealous die polishing that was initially intended just to efface clashmarks. This particular example was then impressed 10% Off Center at 12 o'clock with the result that most of the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is off the flan. The reverse is typically sharp for the die pair despite a little light rub, and the surfaces are evenly toned in rich reddish-brown colors. A few wispy obverse abrasions are noted solely for accuracy. A coin that would form the centerpiece of any error collection.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 3285, GSID# 2330)
