Description

Die Adjustment Strike on a 1923-S Dollar
Struck 5% Off Center

1923-S $1 Peace Dollar--5% Off Center, Die Adjustment Strike--NGC. An untoned and partly lustrous mint error. Slightly off center toward 7:30, and the strike is atrocious, particularly on the eagle and Liberty's hair. The legends are generally readable, including the date and mintmark. No wear is visible, but the left obverse has three pinscratches, with the most noticeable in front of the profile. Die set up strikes, such as the present piece, are usually melted, as they are unfit for circulation. Perhaps a unique opportunity to acquire this double error combination on a silver dollar.
