    Description

    MS63 1936-? Buffalo Nickel
    10% Indent Reverse, Partial Collar

1936-? 5C Buffalo Nickel -- 10% Indent Reverse & Partial Collar -- MS63 PCGS. Two nickel planchets were simultaneously fed between the dies. The planchet facing the obverse die (the present coin) was properly centered, while the second planchet was aligned far off center facing the reverse die. The strike pressed the second planchet into the present coin, causing an indent where the two pieces overlapped, namely the location of the denomination and mintmark. Thus we do not know the mint location of the present coin, unless its uniface reverse mate shows up someday, somewhere. The off center flan prevented full operation of the collar die. Satiny and unabraded with light tan-gold patina and a couple of aqua flecks within the date.
