US Coins Signature Auction #1327 postponed to February 23 - 25. Get details.

    Description

1939 5C Jefferson Nickel -- Struck on a Cent Planchet -- AU58 PCGS. An unmarked golden-brown Borderline Uncirculated second-year example of this scarce wrong planchet combination. A hint of wear on the cheekbone confirms the coin was spent in commerce before a finder set it aside eight decades ago. Struck flush with the collar die at 3 o'clock, thus LIBERTY and the date are full and bold. IN GOD is partial and distorted. Most of WE TRUST is off the flan.
