1943-P Nickel, Struck on a Zinc-Coated Steel Planchet
AU50 -- A One-Year Type

1943-P 5C Nickel -- Struck on a Zinc-Coated Steel Planchet -- AU50 NGC. 2.7 grams. Struck on a cent planchet for 1943. This one-year type is an off-denomination striking using a zinc-coated steel planchet. Obviously a one-year type since these planchets were only used in one year at the height of World War II in an effort to save copper that was then used for shell casings. Dusky medium gray patina with evidence of light circulation.
