Description
1943-S Lincoln Cent Struck on a Dime Planchet
1943-S 1C Cent--Struck On 10C Planchet--AU Details, Obverse Scratched, NCS. 2.5 grains. While virtually all design elements are on the flan, a few toward the borders display more or less striking incompleteness. The date and mintmark, however, are readily evident, and the light wear is confined to the higher points of the design. Scratches in the right obverse field were probably put there by someone trying to determine the genuineness of this curious example. The year 1943 is an important one for errors in the Lincoln Cent series.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22E8, PCGS# 2717, GSID# 2091)
