Description
1944 Quarter, MS62, Struck on a
Wartime Nickel Planchet
1944 25C Washington Quarter -- Struck on a Five Cent Planchet
--MS62 NGC. 5.0 gm. Sky-blue and yellow-green hues enrich this
refreshingly unabraded wrong planchet error. The date is full,
although LIBERTY and QUARTER DOLLAR are partly off the flan.
Quarters struck on wartime alloy Jefferson nickel planchets are
undoubtedly very elusive. Photographed on page 213 of Mike Byers'
World's Greatest Mint Errors.Ex: Milt Cohen; Milwaukee Central States Signature (Heritage, 5/2004), lot 11459, which realized $2,990.
