Description

1945 10C Mercury Dime--Broadstruck--MS65 NGC. The 1945 Dime is notorious for its near impossibility to locate with fully split bands. Perhaps the easiest way to obtain such a prize is to seek broadstruck examples, which have a better strike in the centers since no collar was present to prevent the dies from approaching. Alas, the bands are not quite fully split on the present piece, which has a semi-prooflike appearance and medium tan-gray color. The broadstrike is slightly uncentered, the unstruck portion widest at 3 o'clock.
