    1945(-?) Half Dollar, MS64
    Struck on a Dime Planchet
    #26 in
    100 Greatest U.S. Coin Errors

1945(-?) Walking Liberty Half -- Struck on a Dime Planchet -- MS64 NGC. 2.5 gm. This lot is plated under #26 within the 2010 edition of 100 Greatest U.S. Error Coins, where it is stated that "this is one of only two or three Liberty Walking half dollars known on dime planchets and one of the very few wrong-planchet Liberty Walking half dollars that shows a date on the struck coin." This satiny near-Gem is minimally abraded. The reverse was aligned with the collar at 12 o'clock. As a result, the mintmark, the eagle's legs, and the upper half of Liberty are off the flan. Among the more spectacular World War II mint errors in the Geyer Family collection.
