1951-D Franklin Half, MS64 Full Bell Lines
    Struck on a Quarter Blank

1951-D 50C Franklin Half -- Struck on a Type One Quarter Planchet -- MS64 Full Bell Lines NGC. 6.2 gm. The standard weight of a silver quarter is 6.25 gm. A brilliant and lustrous example of this scarce wrong planchet combination. The date and mintmark are complete though LIBERTY and the denomination are off the flan. A slender area of unstruck surface is centered at 6:30. The rims are not raised, probably because the planchet was too small in diameter to be affected by the half dollar settings of the upset mill.
