Description

1959 Cent, MS62 Brown
Double Struck, Rotated in Collar

1959 1C Lincoln Cent -- Double Struck, Rotated in Collar -- MS62 Brown NGC. The first strike was normal, but the coin failed to eject from the dies. Instead, it rotated about 135 degrees counter-clockwise, and was struck a second time, without an intervening planchet. Another possibility is that a newly struck 1959 cent ended up among cent planchets and was fed between dies a second time. The chocolate-brown surfaces are unmarked and show ample remnants of the initial strike. The obverse border has a concave appearance.
