Franklin Half on a Split Planchet Fragment
1962 50C Franklin Half--Struck on a Split Planchet Fragment--NGC. 2.5 grams. Ungraded by NGC, but we believe it is Mint State. Apparently, the planchet fragmented after it was cut from stock, but before it was struck. Struck on a wafer-thin flan with one ragged edge. About 40% of the design is present, including the date and the top of the bell where the mint mark would have been, although none is present. The curved border is softly struck.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24TR, PCGS# 6682, Greysheet# 6816)
