Description

1964 10C Roosevelt Dime--Flipover Double Strike, Second Strike 50% Off Center--MS64 PCGS. The first strike appears to be normal, but the piece failed to leave the coinage chamber. It flipped over and was struck a second time, 50% off center toward 2 o'clock. The second strike is at 4:30 relative to the reverse of the first strike. The second strike is uniface obverse, with the reverse die blocked by a fed planchet (not included). The force of the second strike caused a tornado-shaped split, which makes much of the first date illegible. The second strike shows only the 196 in the date.
