Choice AU 90% Silver 1965 Dime
Desirable Transitional Alloy Error

1965 10C Roosevelt Dime--Struck on a Silver Dime Planchet--AU55 PCGS. Breen-3761, which he considered extremely rare. This transitional alloy mint error was struck in 1965 or early 1966, at a time when the mint was striking dimes in two different alloys, the traditional 90% silver and the copper-nickel "sandwich" composition still in use today. The silver pieces were dated 1964, and the clad examples bore 1965 dates. A few planchets were diverted to the wrong dies, such as the present unabraded example, which has satin luster and light olive-gold and cream-gray toning.
