Description
Dramatic Multiple Strike 1969-D Half Dollar, MS62
1969-D<50C Kennedy Half--Double Struck, Second Strike Off-Center--MS62 NGC. After the first strike, the newly minted half dollar failed to clear the dies, though it did rotate approximately 45 degrees clockwise, and was struck again, which affected nearly 25% of the surfaces. Both strikes display a full date and mintmark, an unusual circumstance. Small areas of tortoiseshell toning are present on the upper reverse edge of the second strike, and light abrasions on Kennedy's neck (on the main strike) help define the technical grade.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24U8, PCGS# 6712, Greysheet# 6925)
